Choir

Guided by the words of Saint Augustine, “He who sings prays twice,” the Our Lady of Lebanon Co-Cathedral Choir Ministry plays an essential role in the spiritual life of our parish. The ministry’s primary mission is to lead the faithful in prayer through the chanting of Syriac Maronite hymns during the Divine Liturgy and other liturgical celebrations. Deeply rooted in the rich traditions of the Maronite Church, these sacred chants, psalms, and hymns draw upon a heritage that stretches back to the earliest centuries of Christianity. Through the faithful preservation of these ancient melodies, alongside contemporary liturgical compositions, the choir helps parishioners connect more deeply with their faith and spiritual heritage.

Our parish is blessed with five Sunday choirs that serve the worshipping community throughout the day: the 8:00am Arabic Choir, the 9:30am Family Choir, the 11:00am Arabic and English Choir, the 5:00pm Choir, and the 7:00pm Youth Choir. Each choir is made up of dedicated singers and musicians of all ages who generously offer their time, talents, and commitment in service to God and the Church.

On major feast days and special parish celebrations, members of the various choirs come together to lead the congregation in prayer, enriching the Maronite Liturgy with reverence, beauty, and devotion. The choirs also participate in spiritual concerts featuring traditional Syriac, Arabic, and English hymns and chants, offering praise and glory to our Lord and honour to His Blessed Mother. During the Christmas season, they joyfully share the message of Christ’s birth through the performance of Christmas carols for the parish community.

As our parish continues to grow, the Choir Ministry remains a valued opportunity for individuals to deepen their faith, develop their musical gifts, and become actively involved in the life and worship of the Church. Through music, prayer, and fellowship, choir members contribute meaningfully to the liturgical life of the parish while building lasting friendships within a vibrant faith community.
