Community - Pastoral Council

Home

What does the Council do?

Each Council member provides a valuable conduit between parishioners and the Priests of OLOL in the furtherance of the Parish Mission. The Pastoral Council meets once a month. The Parish Priest, and members of the Parish clergy attend to discuss issues and hear reports from members about current issues and projects within the Parish. In addition to attending the monthly meetings, Pastoral Council members serve as liaisons to the working committees of the Pastoral Council. Some of the current Pastoral Council Committees include

  • MYO
  • MAM
  • Choir groups
  • Altar Servers group
  • Prayer groups
  • Ladies Committee

The Council

  • The Pastoral Council’s role is to collaborate with the Parish Priest and the assistant Parish Priests
  • The Pastoral Council is an envisioning body
  • The Pastoral Council does not manage the day-to-day activities of the parish, but engages in ongoing long range pastoral planning. Enhance the Spiritual development of our community
  • The Pastoral Council members serve as a channel of consultation for the Parish Priest by engaging in ongoing dialogue concerning the needs, feelings, hopes, and reactions of the parishioners.
  • Pastoral planning begins with and is sustained by a process of discernment and assessment. The Parish Priest and the Pastoral Council members, through prayer, study, and listening, begin to identify and prioritize the ways in which the Parish is being called to live out its specific mission.
  • The Pastoral Council’s responsibility for Parish planning is to provide the Priests with information and advice. Council members should seek to know the people of the Parish in order to fulfill this responsibility conscientiously.
